Hoppe, Lindley, WPG, kartografia warszawska 1641-2009

Pod koniec marca 2009 roku w Muzeum Warszawskiego Przedsiębiorstwa Geodezyjnego miała miejsce ważna wystawa varsavianistyczna pt. „Hoppe, Lindley, WPG, kartografia warszawska 1641-2009”. Wystawę zorganizowało Warszawskie Przedsiębiorstwo Geodezyjne Spółka Akcyjna (WPG SA) przy współpracy Archiwum Państwowego m.st. Warszawy (APW).

Pod koniec marca 2009 roku w Muzeum Warszawskiego Przedsiębiorstwa Geodezyjnego miała miejsce ważna wystawa varsavianistyczna pt. „Hoppe, Lindley, WPG, kartografia warszawska 1641-2009”. Wystawę zorganizowało Warszawskie Przedsiębiorstwo Geodezyjne Spółka Akcyjna (WPG SA) przy współpracy Archiwum Państwowego m.st. Warszawy (APW). Kustoszem wystawy był Paweł Weszpiński, który opiekuje się kartografią a w szczególności tzw. planami Lindleyowskimi w APW.  


Podtytuł: „Wystawa w 150. rocznicę urodzin Josepha Lindleya”, wiąże się z najmłodszym z Lindleyów, Wystawa przypomni raz jeszcze, że wodociągi i kanalizację, a także nowoczesny pomiar Warszawy zawdzięczamy rodzinnej firmie angielskich inżynierów cywilnych, ojca Williama Lindleya (1808-1900), synów Sir Williama Heerleina Lindleya (1853-1917), Roberta Searlsa (1854 – 1925) i Josepha (1859-1906).

22 marca obchodzimy Światowy Dzień Wody.

Dzień po nim, 23 marca 2024 r., Wodociągi Warszawskie zapraszają na pełen atrakcji piknik, który w sobotnie popołudnie odbędzie się na terenie Multimedialnego Parku Fontann w Warszawie.


Światowy Dzień Wody został ustanowiony przez Zgromadzenie Ogólne ONZ, aby zwrócić uwagę na brak dostępu do czystej wody pitnej dla miliarda ludzi na całym świecie. Co roku obchodzony jest on pod innym hasłem – takim, które wskazuje na różne aspekty związane z aktualnymi problemami dotyczącymi gospodarki wodnej.




Hasło na rok 2024 brzmi: „Water for peace” i odnosi się do potrzeby umożliwiania równego dostępu do wody. Mówi także o związanych z tym napięciach i konfliktach między społecznościami i krajami oraz o związanych z tym napięciach i konfliktach między społecznościami i krajami.


W programie wiele atrakcji, m.in.:

•          Fotobudka i zdjęcia z Williamem Heerleinem Lindleyem!!!

World Water Day, on 22 March every year, is about focusing attention on the importance of water. This year’s theme, ‘Leaving no one behind’, adapts the central promise of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development that as sustainable development progresses, everyone must benefit.

Sustainable Development Goal 6 is crystal clear: water for all by 2030. By definition, this means leaving no one behind. But today, billions of people are still living without safe water – their households, schools, workplaces, farms and factories struggling to survive and thrive. Marginalized groups – women, children, refugees, indigenous peoples, disabled people and many others – are often overlooked, and sometimes face discrimination, as they try to access and manage the safe water they need.

This World Water Day, 22nd March, is about tackling the water crisis by addressing the reasons why so many people are being left behind. Get familiar with the issues – why are people being left behind without safe water and what can be done to reach them?



On March 23, 2019, the Warsaw Waterworks organize an ecological picnic on the occasion of the World Water Day. On Saturday, March 23, 2019, in the Multimedia Fountain Park, from 11.00, residents of Warsaw will be able to enjoy a number of attractions free of charge.

City of Mannheim remembers William H. Lindley



On the December 29, 2017, on the website of the city of Mannheim Sabine Pich published an article  entitled "It was him who built a sewage system in Mannheim (Er baute Mannheims Abwassersystem)".


The text is dedicated to William Heerlein Lindley, who was commissioned by the city authorities in the years 1888-1901 to design and build a sewage system for  the city of Mannheim. The project was carried out in cooperation with the Swiss company Brown, Boveri & Company, which established a branch in Mannheim in 1899. Another joint success of BBC and W.H. Lindley was construction of the first power plant in industrial port of that city (Industriehafen). His daughter Julia married Robert Boveri, who led the BBC in Mannheim until his death.


On March 22, 2018, which is the World Water Day, the entrance to the sewage system will be opened for the visitors (at the Breiten Straße). A similar entrance to the canal designed by W.H. Lindley can be seen in Łódź in the famous Dętka at Plac Wolności. The article by S. Pich has been published in the memory of the 100th anniversary of the death of William H. Lindley. Mannheim is a poviat city, located in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, in the district of Karlsruhe, the seat of the Rhein-Neckar region. It lies at the mouth of Neckar to the Rhine,

William H. Lindley (1853-1917), at the 100th anniversary

 


The First Programme of the Polish Radio on July 23, 2017 at 21.00, within the framework of the knowledge contest about Warsaw, will join our celebration of the 100th anniversary of the death of William Heerlein Lindley.


Listeners will be asked two questions about the date of the first water supply to the citizens of Warsaw and location of the monument of our hero. Questions are easy and the answer can easily found on our site.
